About Donald Shank
Few artists can transcend three dimensionality in the two-dimensional world of paper and ink. When an artist captures all elements of human emotions in the subtleties of shadow, depth, skin-tone, eye color, and facial expressions, the viewer is drawn into the scene and embraces the subject.



From humble artistic beginnings as a Long Island, New York teenager working in a sign shop owned by Jerry Seinfeld's father, the now Key Largo, Florida-based Donald Shank has matured into an artist who creates dramatically surreal original art.

Donald's love of fantasy art and illustration was driven by such artists as Frank Frazetta and other artists contributing to the pages of HEAVY METAL, VAMPIRELLA, MARVEL and EERIE comics. While still in high school, Donald honed his fantastical illustration talents when a well-regarded tattoo shop retained him as their lead original concept artist after Donald used himself as a walking portfolio of thousands of unique examples of body art at the expense of hundreds of gallons of Indian ink and spilled blood.

After earning an associates degree in advertising, Donald was quickly recruited by various production and design studios whose clients included Disney and Warner Brothers. While working with other artists was a healthy environment, Donald soon realized his unique talent and opened his own custom illustration studio in 1996.

Donald continues to illustrate various campaigns for Budweiser, the city of Fort Lauderdale, The Sound Advice Blues Festival of Miami, and The Florida Dolphin Rescue Program. In addition, his artwork has been commissioned for campaigns by internationally known Florida Keys resorts including The Volcano Club, Holiday Isle and The Tiki Bar.

Computer technology and the Internet permit Donald to work with clients as far away as Europe and Asia from his Key Largo ocean-view home studio.
